Islamic Relief is an international relief and development charity founded in 1984 with its headquarters in Birmingham, UK. As well as responding to disasters and emergencies, Islamic Relief promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities – regardless of race, religion or gender.

The office officially started its operation in Ethiopia in 2004. Islamic Relief Ethiopia (IRE) is operational in the Somali Regional State with a base office in Hargelle, Elkere, Bare and Dekasuftu, Afar Regional State; Ewa and Gulina, Oromia Regional State; Borena, Chiro and Meayso and an additional operational office in Addis Ababa.

1: Project Officer

Skill and educational background

BSc Degree in civil engineering and other related field of studies from a recognized University with at least 4 years of experience in relevant areas

Skills and Competences

Demonstrated practical experience in construction/rehabilitation works
Experience on managing the construction and maintenance of health facilities
Demonstrated experience in managing labor and material at construction site.
Knowledge of Project Cycle management is an asset.
Experience of engineering software’s like AutoCAD and basic computer skill has value.
Flexible and committed to work under pressure.
Having a demonstrated experience to work with government partners and structures is essential.
Demonstrated experience in implementing and supervising construction works
Proficiency in written and spoken English, Amharic, and Afaan Oromo is mandatory.
Location: Oromia Regional State, West Hararge, Doba

2: PSI Coordinator

Skill and educational background

University degree in one of the relevant areas- Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Science, International Law, Human Rights, or any other related Social Science
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with preferably 5 years of relevant professional work experience in human rights issues, inclusivity, protection and/or child protection, and GBV. Having experience in GBV prevention, mitigation and response, broader protection or social work involving empowerment of women and girls, gender, child protection, mental health, counselling and working with survivors, humanitarian and development issues. Working in emergency or conflict situations is an asset
Fluency in English, and knowledge on local languages of IR operational areas is an advantage.
