1: Senior Technical Assistant – (HN)Health & Nutrition

Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to support project-targeted health facilities in planning and implementation of preventive and curative health and Nutrition services including outreach activities according to the National Protocols, as well as universal health and nutrition standards.
Main duties & Responsibilities:
Technical Support and Facilitation
Undertake different assessments with RHB/ZHD/WOHO to identify gaps and provide support in addressing identified gaps.
Actively involved in the proposal development process through information gathering and sharing and other activities as required.
Identify special training needs on Health and Nutrition for the different groups engaged in this project: key Woreda and kebele officials, Development Agents (DA), Health Extension Workers (HEW), Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW)
Provide training both on-job coaching and mentorship to HW and HEWs on different elements including IMCI, Epi, Covid-19 IPC, measures, and ANC/PNC among others.
Ensure, that the OTP/SC components of the emergency nutrition project are of good quality and are reaching international standards for performance with support from the Project Officer and ensure referrals and linkage between the TSFP and OTP/SC CMAM components
Support in the provision of logistical support to the health facilities and WOHO for essential medical supplies and equipment.
Liaise with health centre and health post staff on the planning, implementation and monitoring of Health and nutrition (OTP and SC) in their locations
Undertake community mobilization on health and Nutrition, active case finding, defaulter tracing and beneficiary follow-up
In collaboration with the Woreda team leader, MOH, RHB, WoHos and HEWs contribute to improvement of the health and nutrition activities by conducting outreach services
Ensure the continual availability of food, medicine, and other supplies required for the project in the identified Woreda and ensure its proper management, including ordering, storage, and monitoring
Support HEWs, through capacity development in service delivery including recording and reporting, active case finding and sensitization, supply and cold chain management and community mobilization among others.

Liaise with local authorities, represent the team in meetings and be responsible for all communications of the team as necessary.
Prepare and submit a project implementation plan to the line manager and conduct regular monitoring using a standard checklist developed for this purpose.
Submit monitoring report to line manager and provide the necessary support based on gaps identified during monitoring.
Coordination and networking
In collaboration with the team leader and project officer, facilitate and participate regularly at Woreda-level health and nutrition task force meetings to be chaired by the Woreda health office and/or Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Office/DPPO
Establish and maintain smooth working relationships with Concern staff, government bodies and other stakeholders
Report problems encountered in the working centre or within the team to the immediate supervisor
Propose solutions to solve any problem faced and report them to the immediate supervisor
Participate actively in regular staff meetings
Respect for all CWW procedures (HR, Logs & IT, and Finances etc.)

Skill and educational background

Person specification:
BSc Degree in health Discipline (Public Health/Nursing, Midwifery)
3 years of relevant work experience for Degree holders
5 years relevant work experience for a Diploma.
NGO experience is a plus.
Skills Required
Plus basic computer knowledge (word, excel)
Basic English spoken and written.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Profound experience in curative and preventive health services,
Computer literate
Good communication and report-writing skills
Good negotiation skill with government and other agencies
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
Good interpersonal skills and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to understand and respect the cultural, religious and political environment and to work well with staff and local authorities in a diplomatic
Experience in providing training and capacity building for staff
