Job Description

The Center for Human Rights (CHI) of the Addis Abatia University (AAU) was founded in 2008 and is currently organized under the College of Law and Governance Studies Chir generally seeks to advance the human rights, rule of law, and democratic governance in Ethiopia through high-end research, teaching and community services. As part of its objectives of providing quality academic, research and community services. CHR in collaboration with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), a implementing a three-year project to support teaching research and community services. For the implementation of the Project and Theme components (Multidisciplinary Human Rights Teaching and Training Research, Policy and Practice Collaboration and Diffusion; and Community Human Rights Promotion and Protection; the Center would like to hire motivated, competent and high-caliber professionals. The Project implementation covers the Center as well as 5 sub-project areas in Addis Ababa, Adama, Hawassa, Ambo, and Debre Bethan.

Summary of Major Duties

  • Develop and strengthen monitoring and evaluation procedures in light of RBM
  • Monitor all project activities, expenditures and progress toward achieving the project output
  • Recommend further improvement of the M&E Tools
  • Monitor and evaluate overall progress on the achievement of results
  • Provide feedback to the Project Coordinators on project strategies and activities
  • Suggest strategies to the Project Management for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks
  • Report monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual progress on all project activities
  • Conduct capacity assessment on existing monitoring and evaluation system; > Participate in project reviews and planning workshops and assist in the preparation of reports
  • Assist in coordinating across the sub-components of the Project to ensure effective implementation of M&E
  • Assist the project personnel with M&E tools and in supporting them in their use
  • Design and manage gender-disaggregated beneficiary monitoring and database systems
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Skill and educational background

  • Minimum first degree in economics, business management/administration, project management, law, development studies, human rights or other relevant social sciences field;
  • MA in a relevant field is an advantage;
  • Knowledge and understanding of project monitoring and evaluation and current trends;
  • Experience in human rights projects
  • Experience working in CSOS
  • Employment experience of 3 years for BA, and 2 years for MA:

Salary (Gross): 31,740.00 (plus employment benefits)
