1. Capacity Building Assistant

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Hygiene Promotion/PLA Officer and with the technical support of the other IRC team, the Capacity building Assistant is expected to implement the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC’s) community-driven Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach to mobilize Client communities to collectively identify and analyze their water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) problems, outline solutions in community action plans, and implement these plans. The CBA Assistant is responsible for implementation of the water supply, Hygiene and Sanitation activities of IRC- Ethiopia, Gedeo Zone, Dilla zuria woreda sites to the required standard, principles, and level of participation.

Skill and educational background

Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health,sociology, Rural Development, SBCC fields
2 Years of relevant experience for Diploma Holder
0 years of relevant experience for degree holders
NGO experience is a plus.
Minimum of six-month IRC internship service
Basic Computer knowledge
Basic English spoken and writing.
Have a good command of Local Language and English
Have Driving license for Motor bike is an asset.
Language: Have a good command of Local Language and English

2. Environmental Health Assistant

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the EH Officer the EH Assistant will be involved in site level planning, construction/rehabilitation and supervision of water supply and sanitation facilities. The position also requires accurate management of skilled and unskilled labor, suppliers, contractors, construction materials, equipment and other resources under the program and reporting periodically to supervisors.

Skill and educational background

Degree/Diploma in Water Supply Technician, Construction, Water Engineering, or related field from universities or Technical and Vocational Training Centers and/or above
Experience in Leading labor and material at construction site.
Experience in mobilizing community to Facilitate labor and locally available construction material during construction.
2 years of experience for diploma holders or 0-year work experience for first degree.
Minimum of six-month IRC Internship service is a plus.
NGO experience is a plus.
Skills Required:

Basic computer knowledge (word, excel)
Basic English spoken and writing.
Good communication and social skills.
Language Skills: Amharic, English and local language is advantageous.

3. Junior Environmental Health Agent

Job Summary:

Under he direct supervision of the Hygiene Promotion/PLA Officer and with the technical support of the other IRC team, the junior Environmental Health Agents is expected to implement the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC’s) community-driven Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach to mobilize beneficiary communities to collectively identify and analyze their water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) problems, outline solutions in community action plans, and implement these plans. The JEHA also ensures establishment of community-based Water user Associations/WUA, community mobilized for conduct series of Kebele based meetings with different community groups/PLA groups.

Skill and educational background

Primary education completion certificate up to 6 grades
“Applies basic knowledge of work routines and standards; requires ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple tasks.
ability to write and read.
Preferable primary education up to Grade 6
Some ability in Language optional as per the JD
At least one year experience
Community mobilization skills
Skills Required:

Good communication with clients and staffs
NGO experience or any related experience is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with kebele level officials.
Language: Knowledge of the local language; ‘Sidamu Affoo’ is Mandatory.
